me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Our exciting new color scheme

Blogging at you from Buffalo, NY. Got here this evening by plane from Newark. Got to Newark this afternoon by NJ Transit train from NYC. An announcement on the train welcomed passengers and alerted us to the fact that we were on a new train, which included "our exciting new color scheme." I waited to have the other new-train features pointed out to me, but the announcement stopped there. Well, the new color scheme is... maroon. The seats. The floor is gray, which I think the old floor was. The old seats were gray or green, depending on the train. Personally I don't find maroon exciting, but there may be more to this than I know. Maybe each car, or each new train, is a different color?

Anyway, so here I am in Buffalo. A lot of you know I was trained, and practiced for many years, as an architect. What you may not know is that my M.Arch. is from here: SUNY at Buffalo. I haven't been back for twenty years. Then a year ago I was invited to come here in fall 2005 to speak to the New York State Library Association convention. So here I am. Came in too late to see anything, but the one friend I still have here is meeting me for breakfast tomorrow and we're going to run around the city all morning before my speech. And then some afterwards. I'll let you know.
