Huge empty tanker
Pulled downriver high and fast
Behind neat gray tug.
Gull, floating sideways,
Pecks at water's blue shimmer.
Finds nothing. Flies off.
Buffleheads are back!
In unmistakeable rush
One flaps by pier's end.
