me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

The day after Thanksgiving

Some morning sights:

Sunny streets, about half the normal weekday traffic and none of that looking much in a hurry.

A family of five -- mom, dad, three blonde girls -- heading to the diner for a late breakfast.

A handleless inside-out umbrella, looking like a silver tarantula perched on a purple parachute.

Lots more joggers than usual.

Green water swollen with yesterday's rain and sharp with today's wind, glittering under a cloudless sky.

Hope you guys enjoyed your Thanksgiving as much as I did -- pounding rain, but family and friends, excellent potlucked food, a knitting lesson from my niece-in-law (look for sweater progress reports for the next, oh, three years), all Four Fabulous Nephews in the same house (my brother's, in NJ), a phone call from our absent sister (the farmer) reporting that her husband was resting comfortably after Tuesday's successful anyeurism surgery, a green heron and two buffleheads on the lake, and a ferry ride home late at night. A little time to reflect, and, even in a world as loused up as this one, a lot to reflect on. Thanks to one and all.
