I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us! |

2007-07-04 3:57 PM Happy Independence Day, Scooter! Tom Adcock, a fellow pinko Commie writer, sent me the following acceptable reasons for commuting a prison sentence, from the Justice Dept's website:
"Generally, commutation of sentence is an extraordinary remedy that is rarely granted. Appropriate grounds for considering commutation have traditionally included disparity or undue severity of sentence, critical illness or old age, and meritorious service rendered to the government by the petitioner, e.g., cooperation with investigative or prosecutive efforts that has not been adequately rewarded by other official action. A combination of these and/or other equitable factors may also provide a basis for recommending commutation in the context of a particular case." Co-operation? Anyone seen any of that? And it doesn't say anything about the threat of blackmail. I guess we're just supposed to read between the lines. Oh, well. "Scooter" might have worked at the White House, but it wouldn't have been such a great name to have in the Big House anyway. Read/Post Comments (5) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
