me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Twenty-third Saturday, from Rancho Obsesso

Riot of birdsong,
Overlapping, endless green,
Damp earth's chocolate scent.

Threads of fog, thin mist.
Early bee finds marigolds.
Not interested.

Lawn's gone to clover.
Let's ask landlord not to mow --
Meadow by next week!

(Note to folks who came to this blog through the China entries: every Saturday morning I write 3 haiku [applying that term loosely]. If there's no notation I wrote them in Manhattan, near the Hudson River. Otherwise it'll say where I was. "Rancho Obsesso" is a rented summer house on the North [non-Hampton] Fork of Long Island, NY.)
