Twenty-seventh Saturday, from Rancho Obsesso, two days late*
Robin claims high branch,
Cardinal, mid-tree. Shrugging,
Catbirds feast in grass.
Under silver sky
Threadbare gauze of steel-gray clouds
Slides, reshapes, is gone.
At each red stem's end
Deep green glossy maple leaf
Drips clear rainwater.
