me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Anyone seen spring?

It's bright and sunny here, and they claim it's getting up to 60 today, but it was cold cold cold by the river this morning. And tomorrow's April, fer Pete's sake. Mucho duck action down on the water, including a pair of gadwalls and a single male mallard hanging together. It looks all very companionable but I'd suggest to the male gadwall to watch it or you'll be raising a brood of half-breed ducklings. In the park one red tulip is open among a field of leaves. Obviously an early variety planted by mistake, but I'm grateful for it. And one daffodil's been willing to open in a bunch of swelling but closed peers. In my building the heat's still on. And though every time I've done the laundry for the last month I wonder if I can now put away the knee socks, I think they may get yet one more round before they hit the top of the closet to wait for next year.
