me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Brother, can those sisters boogie!

Last night Barb and I went for a late-night stroll. Yesterday was the Feast of the Assumption, a festive night in Assisi. The restaurants have fancy menus, and folks hang out, stroll, eat, drink, get into a good mood. Of course, most of the summer, folks are in the streets late, in a good mood; but last night was party time. We followed the sounds of an enthusiastic and pretty bad band down an alley to a courtyard, where civilians of all ages were gettin' down with a bunch of monks and nuns. I'm saying, they did the twist, the nuns tangoed with each other, they made a conga line (monks in front, civilians in the middle, nuns bringing up the rear) and conga'ed the house down. Woo-hoo!
