I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us! |

2011-08-27 9:19 PM River report Was invited out to dinner two blocks away -- well, we have no mass transit here in NYC (historic) so unless your friends live close it's a long soggy walk. (Great meatloaf, thanks guys!) It was barely raining when I left them so I went down by the river. An hour and a half after high tide, and the river's smooth and calm but as high as I've ever seen it. It'll recede now until about 1 am, then start to rise again just as the wind and rain pick up. High tide in the morning will be about 6 hours after the winds start averaging above 40 mph. I can't see any way the water won't rise above the seawall. When it does the storm sewers may well be overwhelmed. No catastrophe I can see, though Con Ed is going to cut power to substations that are likely to flood. But I think we'll have a lot of water in the streets.
Stay tuned. Read/Post Comments (5) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
