me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Fall by the river

Sharp wind blowing along the river today, but blue skies at last. I yield to no one in my love for gray and rainy days. NYC has had a few too many of those lately, however. Cleveland was rainy, too, when I was there, so I'm feeling overdosed and soggy. And fall is so beautiful when the sun's golden and the leaves turn colors against the blue sky... Which is what was happening along the river today. Some of those leaves got shaken off the trees and found their way to the stone pathways, where the wind scraped them along; others ended up on green lawns, sticking there for now. The gusts had enough power to make whitecaps on the water, and one long rolling wave curled all the way to the seawall from the center of the river. A tiny surfer could have ridden it in.
