Dawn fog softens, grays --
Trees at edge of field, shed roof,
Orange azalea.
Three catbirds on branch:
Two hungry, squawking fledglings,
One harried adult.
Doe enters backyard,
Sees me, snorts, stamps, throws head back,
Exits behind pine.
