(This is what Mom was going to post for yesterday:)

What a difference a bath makes. I realized I was wearing the same gown that I'd been given when I checked in on Tuesday. I griped about that and the truly dreadful food to the nurse, and we got a bunch of things straightened out. If I can get a doctor to pay attention to the throat thing now I'll be happy (and they did come and do some tests.) I'm running a low grade fever, but since my "normal" is in the 97.5 range, the doctors do not consider 99 any big deal. The rest of my days pass in watching TV, although this afternoon there will be football, and reading.

Current reading: Number 3 in the Saga of Prehistoric America, by Michael and Kathleen Gear. This one is People of the Earth and is quite interesting. (It's also almost 600 pages long.)

I just looked in my mouth and my uvula is Really Ugly. OD stopped by with the Grands and was suitably impressed by it also.

This afternoon is the first time I felt really human in a while, so I guess I'm out of the jet lag. The trip from Mombaso to Slidell took close to 40 hours and cut across 9 time zones. It's definitely a challege to one's circadian rhythm.

(This is what Mom wrote for today:)

It's no wonder my backside is so sore--I've been sitting on it for over two weeks now. The Kenyan hospital made a special point of keeping it clean, creamed and powdered. But this hospital doesn't use powder, so there's not much buffer for the inevitable "seat sweat."

I've been up and walking around on my crutches and showing how I can hotrod in my wheelchair.

(Long rant about the truly horrible lunch that would take me too long to type.)

I had PT and OT (occupational therapy) today. I passed "shower" and "wash hair" and "put on clothes." And, the PT was stuff that I'd been doing anyway. So, basically, it's been a really good day.

This evening I get to watch the Saints lose again. And, I think they're finally coming up with some powder for my backside. The OT agreed that it doesn't Look Good.

I just remembered that there's a pint of mint chocolate chip ice cream waiting for me at the nurse's station.
