Strictly speaking, he came from under the bathroom sink where he apparently finds the package of toilet paper a comfy bed.
And now he has joined me in the air-conditioned room, sort of on top of the CPU. "Sort of" becaue my left leg was there first, so he just molded his body over my leg. Which is getting more than a little warm. Passionate cats are not particularly welcome in the summer. Even in the air-conditioned room. In a few minutes, though, my foot will no doubt be too numb to feel hot and sweaty. I guess it was another high-temp record-breaker again. It didn't bother me--the air conditioning in the library works quite efficiently. This afternoon I got the contents lists of all seven Paulette cartons typed up and stored in the computer. Luckily, there was almost no other library business. A woman came in looking to borrow a videotape. The librarian was upstairs, and I didn't know where they might be indexed. However, the new aide did, and even found the tape. Later on a grad student came by with an announcement of a screening of a film she'd made in Panama. She's an anthropology major and we got talking a bit about my research questions. I think we'll probably get together for lunch some time. She knows the questions to ask that I need to be able to answer. The final bit of library work came about 4:30. Usually I leave about 4, but I was close to done with the inventory lists. There was a phone call--I answered "Vorhoff Library" like I knew all about the library. The caller wanted to come by for some manuscript research. I told him the hours were 9 to 4 in the summer. He lives in Picayune (MS) and needed to verify the route in--it's been a while since he'd been there. Well, once he gets to I-10 he's going the same I way I go in, so at least I could be helpful there. My drive home had only a couple of slight slowdowns--unusual for the later hour I was travelling. And now my foot is going numb courtesy of the cat who came out of the closet. Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
