I'm hoping the upcoming trip will be the pressure incentive I need to get a bunch of little stuff done.

This morning I dumped weeds and newspapers, adding to the weed collection as I made my way back to the "pond." By the time I'd finished all that I needed a shower to desweat myself.

I lunched at Arby's, then swung past the bank on my way to PJ's. At the bank I got the small bills cash money for my travel. Then it was reading at PJ's, and dropping off two bookcrossings books. (By the time I left they had disappeared.)

I also filled up my tank between Arby's and the bank. I had a bit over 300 miles on the odometer.

Several cars ago (in 1982) when I had a big Dodge van, I got in the habit of judging gas usage by odometer. We hadn't had the van too long when the gas gauge semi-quit. When I filled the (35 gallon) tank it registered barely 1/4 full. Thank goodness for the odometer--it was the only way I could keep track of when I needed gas.

And once I'd gotten that van I started making more trips into New Orleans, especially when I enrolled at UNO.

So, judging tank capacity by the odometer has become second nature for me.

My reading this afternoon was Death by Sudoku, by Kaye Morgan. It's not quite 200 pages of text (there's an appendix with lots of tips on solving Sudoku) and it's a quick read. I'm going to send this one to a friend who is "hooked" on Sudoku.

Tomorrow I MUST clean the front porch. I think I've said that before, but having Janice come to tend cats is the incentive I need. More weeding might be nice too. I'm able to do somewhat more since the back injection, thank goodness. There are probably a bunch of other things that should be on the must-do list, but if I don't try to list them I won't feel (as) guilty about probably not getting around to them. For a while.

YD said she might stop by some time this weekend. I think she said she had some more books for me. I hope so--my stack is actually getting lower.

(I should probably start making a list of what I need to take with me, clothes-wise.)
