I am so tired I may fall asleep as I type.

It wasn't the getting in early for my class--my body is used to that.

It was the lack of a parking space on the Tulane campus in the vicinity of where I work. That meant that I went up the ultra-ritzy street, past the two hours only parking, to a spot that was once an easy walk for me.

Not today--it was really hot, and my ambulatory appartus was quite grateful that a couple of people had steps next to the sidewalk where I could rest up a bit.

But by the time I got to the Newcomb library my shirt and jacket were soaked and I couldn't gulp down a Vicodin quickly enough.

I made a satisfactory amount of progress on the current project, but then I had the walk back to the car. It was a bit cooler, and therefore a bit easier. But I was incredibly glad when I finally got to it and I could sit and rest my back/hips/knees/you name it. The librarian had a good suggestion--get a handicapped tag so that when everything else is filled up I can still park within a reasonable walking distance. I'll mention that when I next see my orthopedist.

On the bright side--it's been a long time I've walked anywhere near that distance. I wonder how I'll feel tomorrow.

I met my class and told them I'd been hired so recently that I didn't have any handouts yet. However, I told them how to find my website for the course.

The class gets "points" for almost everyone being there on time. This is an 8 o'clock class, and the first MWF class of the fall semester. And the majority of my students are freshmen.

So, it was a good day and I am looking forward to Monday when I'll really get going.

If I don't sleep through the weekend which, at this point, feels highly probable.
