I was determined to get a great parking spot this morning, and I did. I got to the Tulane campus just after 8 AM and had a fairly good choice of spots. I let myself into the building, unlocked the other front doors, turned off the emergency alarm, and then tried to remember just exactly where I had left off the last time I'd been there.

By the end of the day I'd put 134 file folders into an "archival" state. And one more storage box is filled to the brim.

I got a call from my orthopedist's office saying my paperwork was ready to be picked up. Good! Tomorrow I'll go straight home from Xavier, get the paperwork, then hie myself to the DMV.

I guess the dog biscuits pleased the masked visitor(?s) last night. I could hear little crunching noises, then a metallic crash. Raccoons obviously have figured out that trash cans are potential treasure troves--and mine is especially good. It is now lying on its side, with part of the bag that holds (held?) the rest of dog biscuits half out of it.

The critters don't seem to be bothered by the cat, and she doesn't seem concerned about the raccoons.

The pace is starting to pick up at Newcomb. Our student workers are returning and I think there is a record number of visiting scholars this semester.

Tomorrow I'll start talking about Egypt and see if my students were listening when I described Mesopotamia on Wednesday. I expect them to be able to compare and contrast the two civilizations--and give reasons for the differences. In other words, to think.

What a quaint notion! But that's what their parents are shelling out good money for--an education.

Time to watch the Saints versus the Colts.
