I was tired last night and I was trying to decide if the ear thing was activating again (I'd finished the latest meds) so I decided to sleep in today. Since Tuesday is a Newcomb day, sleeping in means that I'm staying home. (Arrival after about 8:45 does not yield a parking spot within reasonable walking distance.)
It felt positively decadent to wake up without an alarm to full sunlight. And when I turned on the TV and heard the traffic report, I was very glad that I'd slept in. It was major foggy. This equates to accidents by people driving too fast for the visibility. And sure enough, there were accidents reported on the inbound interstate, which meant that two lanes of interstate traffic was adding itself to the regular one lane for the old bridge. The traffic on highway 11 was backed up more than six miles at its nadir. I don't know how long it took to get untangled. Thank goodness I had an option available. So, I slept a bunch, then after lunch headed to PJ's to finish grading paperlets. On the way I stopped at the post office for stamps and got to use the new automated mailing machine. Buying stamps was easy, as long as you had a credit card. But the machine has a scale built in so that you can mail small packages without standing in line forever. It's pretty neat. I'm betting that tomorrow morning will be foggy also, and I've got no alternative about going in. I'll just make sure I get a really early start. After I teach I have to head back to the North Shore for what I hope will be the last of the doctor appointments. When that's done I think I shall head home and take a nap. But playing hookey today has sort of revitalized me! Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
