I got in to work right about 8 AM and didn't leave till after 4:30 PM. Usually I leave a bit earlier, but most of the way home I was trying to decide whether to get gas on the way home, or on the way in tomorrow morning.

Most of my drive is Interstate, and when I am off it for good (inbound) I'm in a neighborhood that I do not care to drive through at night. And, I have a really low level of interest in pulling into a gas station that has about a dozen hopeful day laborers milling around.

Therefore, it will be on my way out of Slidell that I refill the tank.

I got a lot accomplished today with the current collection. It's finally beginning to take shape. The person went on a Rotary exchange student program to Bolivia her junior year in high school. And then she went to Peru after one year of graduate school--again on a Rotary fellowship. There are tons of pictures, and a great deal about the people and their daily lives.

Did I mention that she wrote lots of letters? She did, and they are so interesting that I end up reading most of them.

"They" are fixing up our building in the lobby area. Since the break there have been people scraping the walls, patching plaster, and painting. It's finally starting to look really nice.

I commented on how nice it looked to one of the workmen. I wonder if he knew what I said--at least half of the maintenance and housekeeping people are Spanish-speaking. And I feel really ignorant that I am not fluent in another language--although I was able to have a minimalist conversation in German when I was in Romania.

Our cold weather (cold for us is defined as below 50) seems to be disappearing, at least according to the Wondrous Weather Wisefolk. The transition from cold to warm will be accompanied by rain. Of course.

So tomorrow I have to leave a bit earlier than usual so that I can get gas at the stop-and-rob next to a traffic light--sort of handy for getting back on the highway.

Did I mention the slides that my subject took? There are 53 pages of slides, with about 40 slides per page. You do the math.

Enough for now--I want to watch "House."
