I was getting ready to go to work this morning when I heard the TV talking about Obama's visit to New Orleans--today.

Where and when?

At Tulane, at 9 AM.

I looked at the clock, and figured I had about three minutes to dress, eat, and get out of here if I wanted a remote chance at a parking spot within my walking distance.

Impossible.

And if I did manage to get a parking place, I would then want to hear him. And his speech location is a bit of a hike.

So I said the heck with it.

And had to recycle my mental plans.

I e-mailed YD to see if she wanted me to buy her lunch. She did.

We had a nice lunch, then I headed out to WalMart to get my toenails trimmed. Along the way I stopped at the car repair place where I'd gone a few months ago. I was reassured that the groaning noise on turning was because I was low on power steering fluid, and he put some in. If it continues, that will suggest there's a leak.

Got my toes prettied up, then picked up a few things, such as a fluorescent bulb to replace one that died yesterday.

I've gotten so used to them--they last for a long time, but the principal appeal is the almost zero amount of heat they emit. It makes a big difference in the summer.

Tomorrow I'll get back on a more or less regular track.

Meanwhile, I need to put out critter food.
