I decided that today would be an at-home based on the possibility of heavy rain.
However, that has not yet appeared, so tomorrow will also be an at-home. Plan A was to attempt to give blood, but I didn't know the hours for the local center. There was no answer at 9 AM so I kept trying--and looking for the card with the hours on it. To kill time I did some tidying in the house, including using the special dusting brush on the blades of the ceiling fan in the hall. And then the mop to get the dust off the ceiling. And the cat hair fluffs from the floor. I then got bills etc. caught up. Along the way I found the card with the center's hours. They open at 11 AM on Tuesdays. Lo and behold my blood iron was okay, so I gave them a pint of it. From there it was PJ's, where I spent more than two hours reading. The mail had come by the time I left the house and there was a new book. Speaking of mail--I left the house after the mail had gotten here, so I detoured slightly past the post office to mail a bunch of bills and other stuff. What a surprise when I got to the P.O. street--all sorts of flashing red and blue lights in the parking lot. Luckily, I could still get to the drive-by drop boxes. But as I headed there I could see that someone had gotten carried away with parking, jumped the curb, gone through some bushes, and (I think) broken the big floor to ceiling plate glass (probably massively reinforced) window. I sure hope that's in the paper tomorrow. I don't take the local rag any more--too little substance, the editor is misogynist, and the price is too high, so I'm counting on the New Orleans Times-Picayune to run it. As I headed home I suddenly remembered another "errand" and stopped at the Verizon place. I had seen an ad for a camera phone for $19.99, and since I've been off contract for over half a year I figured I could make them happy by signing up for another two years. Even better--I told the guy Verizon made LOTS of money off me--I didn't think I'd ever gone over 100 minutes per month. (He said my average was 86 minutes.) Anyway, the new phone would cost me nothing, unless I wanted a car charger. I said I probably did, since that's where I usually recharge the phone. Total bill--about $30. And I shall probably spend the next month getting the various settings established and then learning how to use the camera function. So, today I got a new toy and gave a pint of my A neg. blood. And the weather forecast makes me certain that I'll be at home tomorrow also. Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
