Getting up and getting going this morning was Not Easy. There was just the barest hint of imminent sunrise when I left the house. Halfway there (time-wise) the lower part of the sky was a lovely rosy red. And I could see all the traffic lights!

When I left for home a bit after 4 PM it didn't seem too different--until I was halfway home and still didn't need to put the lights on.

The cats didn't seem quite as ready to eat as usual, but once the food was in front of them they forgot about the time change.

And--I have just about finished the current collection. I need to get there really early tomorrow so that I can use the computer without interruptions for library needs. I have the inventories rough-drafted, so all that's left is the typing. And the archivist (Susan) knows this and has another collection waiting for me.

I spotted a book that interests me in the library and checked it out. The student worker was temporarily stymied because I don't have a Tulane ID. He asked if I ever checked books out. Yes, but not in the last ten to twelve years.

I'm not sure what he did, or how, but he managed to come up with a bar code for me to use. So now I have an official identity for checking out books.

Because of the letter to Dear Abby (and the ensuing deluge of archival material) I have borrowing privileges. I just haven't needed them since Tulane went to a new system that uses bar codes.

If the book is as good as it sounds, I'll probably end up buying it so that I have it available for reference purposes.

Now to start reading it and watching TV.
