So what did I do on day one of my four-day weekend?

Not much. I fell asleep reading this morning, then ended up taking another nap this afternoon. The morning "sinking spell" took care of yard work in the AM, and I have the same excuse for the afternoon.

Oh well, I should be thoroughly rested tomorrow and able to do yard work all day. I hope.

The tom cat is still very shy, although he's gradually realizing I pose no immediate threat to him. My girls seem to like having him around--At one point all three were out watching him.

The mail had a reunion booklet for Cornell. I attended there a bit over two years, but I'm still on their list. This June is the 50th.

The booklet is quite interesting: The names etc. of all the living class members, then the names of those who are deceased. The vast majority of those are males, but Cornell had about a 4:1 ratio when I was there, and Vietnam was in the near future for many of the male graduates. As a land grant college, all males had to take ROTC their first two years. If they continued after that they graduated as 2nd lieutenants. Frequently the sequence was graduation, marriage, and active duty.

In addition to the listing by last names, they also had an alphabetical list of males by first names, and the same for women. They seem to have covered the bases pretty well in helping people find old acquaintances.

My Cornell "contacts" are two--both friends from freshman year, and the only ones still on each others' Christmas card lists.

Since I am probably caught up on sleep, I ought to be able to get all sorts of house and garden tasks done tomorrow.

Right.
