Definitely an IUD.

I never quite got around to doing yard work--my excuse is that it warmed up a bit too soon. Instead I did little stuff in the house. (And I just remembered that I have the washer half-loaded. I'd better get that done if I want fresh undies tomorrow.)

After lunch I headed for PJ's. And when I got there I discovered that I'd left the book behind. I had the notebook for taking notes (duh!!) but not the book.

So I treated myself to the local "alternative" publication--aka Gambit. It had some marvelous stuff about Jazz Fest, and (of course) some political commentary about our new governor's attempts at ethics legislation.

Be aware that our new governor's name has been linked to that of McCain. In fact, I saw a McCain/Jindal sticker on a car at Tulane.

Well, he didn't finish out his first term as U.S. Senator because something "higher" beckoned.

On the other hand, if he did end up in Blair House, we'd have a really good successor--Mitch Landrieu, brother of one of our U. S. Senators (Mary Landrieu.)

Louisiana politics is such fun.

And, folks---I have a question: Since the presidential nominees for the major parties are apparently "clinched," why oh why will we be subjected to Nominating Conventions??? What a waste of money.

I remember listening to the Republican convention in 1948. Dewey got the nomination. And more recently (relatively speaking) the convention where JFK was after the VP spot. (He lost--and Jackie lost a baby.)

I recall listening to conventions in the 50s where civil rights vs states' rights got a LOT of speechifying.

But what, if anything, will be argued out in these mockeries of democracy?

Am I ever getting cynical in my old age.

Time for a change of subject. I have a followup appointment tomorrow with the pain doc. I have his office location, but thought I should locate it today, rather than wait till the last minute. And--(ta-da)--although I missed it on the first pass, I found it on my return. It's at a newish hospital complex that is pretty well hidden from the street. But, since he is new to the location, he has several signs pointing to his office.

That activity should pretty well occupy tomorrow morning.

And tomorrow I shall get some more caladiums planted. And some branches sawed off a couple of trees. And all sorts of treelets dug up.

Right.
