The possum had finished off ALL the dry cat food, and then found half a dog biscuit that somehow the raccoons had missed. The raccoons are cuter when they eat--they hold it in their paws. The possum doesn't seem to have that skill and just eats it from the ground.

I had plenty to keep me busy at work, which was good because the place was practically deserted. No student workers, and essentially nobody even coming to the library.

Last week we did have one visitor--someone returning a book she'd used in her dissertation. She works at SUNO (another HBC in New Orleans) and we discovered we knew several of the same people. I've met some adjuncts at Xavier who also adjunct at SUNO.

Unless I oversleep through the alarms--not to mention the cats that want me to know they are about to collapse from starvation--I'll go in again tomorrow. I told the librarian I was looking more at two days a week--but in earlier--because of the rising gas prices.

When I arrived home this evening I found two cats stretched out in the middle of the driveway, waiting for the deity to magically provide supper for them.

Must be nice to have a cozy place to sleep, lots of interesting things to watch and play with, a hunting buddy, and regular meals. All it costs you is a couple of "you are my goddess" looks a day.

I think it's safe now to remove the upper torso undergarment and be comfortable while I watch TV.

(HBC=historically black college)
