And today wasn't even broken up by a car wash!

I did household tidying this morning, which included putting the slacks that I had mended the night before back in the closet. The problems were three back seams starting to split, and one waistband elastic that was 2/3 dead from old age.

And then I brought the household bookkeeping up to date.

That gets easier and easier as more and more places (like utitities) do an auto-deduct. About twice a month though I have to actually write some checks.

When I finished that my stomach said it was lunch time, so I headed to Arby's via the post office. While there I started reading another Lieutenant Bak mystery. Egypt is the setting, and the time period is when Hatchepsut (sp?) was Pharaoh. She reigned for a fair amount of time during Egypt's New Kingdom period.

I've read a couple of other Lt. Bak mysteries and they give a good feel for "place."

When I walked into Arby's I greeted enthusiastiucally by the manager--who remembered me from pre-Katrina. She's been around, including Mississippi and Texas, but now is back in Slidell.

We chatted a bit and I told her about going to the Gulfport Arby's and running into some staff who recognized me from Slidell. She said she'd been one of them.

Small world.

The rest of the afternoon I rented AC at PJ's and continued reading the Rianne Eisler book. Naturally, I ran across a couple more books she cited that I shall hunt for online.

And tomorrow I SHALL do some gardening and yard work. In the morning when it is less hot.
