And I just barely beat the rain this afternoon. I'd been keeping an eye on the weather radar and when I saw a couple of people outside with umbrellas (open) I "closed up shop" and took off.

My timing was excellent. There was some rain, but not very hard. And the eastbound traffic was moving faster than the front. By the time I was out of the populated part of New Orleans and going past the (former) National Swamp I'd driven out of the rain. And I must have been a bit north of it in order to do that. Slidell wasn't wet at all--at least the part I was in.

Today I was reading legal documents relating to discrimination cases. This woman did a LOT of research. I am anxious to get through her papers and see how it all turned out.

It was a typical laid-back summer Friday at the Women's Center, with a fair amount of casual conversation. I went upstairs to see the remodelling going on--or rather that will soon be underway. Tulane will be responsible for all phases of the work. It will be interesting to see if they have to retrofit the building to meet ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act--not American Dental Association :) regulations. It is currently a long way from being compliant--and when they see me clambering slowly up and down the stairs they--they know it.

Luckily (because it was raining then and there) there was no traffic squish today. I don't know if the project is finished or not. I KNOW they recently tore up the street at that intersection in the past year, but perhaps the construction of a big Imaging Center where a Rite Aid (nee K&B) used to be has something to do with it.

My weekend plans? Choose whatever: laundry, vacuuming house, weeding/weed-whacking yard, trying to make some order where the parish mowed down the azaleas and crepe myrtle.

I'll have to see what the weather and my mood are.
