Why?
I slept either poorly or very deeply. And woke up earlier than I had planned. When I got up I was incredibly stiff. And it was raining. And my head was stuffy from the cold. I had a light breakfast and took a couple of cold pills. Then I managed to get back to sleep for a while. It helped to have a cat on me. The weather radar was discouraging--pretty much solid green. I'm glad I went grocery shopping yesterday. By noon I was almost done with the dozing off, but didn't have energy to do very much at all. Around mid-afternoon I decided that the rain had let up enough that I was willing to go up front (150 feet) and get the paper. Things were looking better until I took pity on the cats etc. and went to the car to bring in the critter food I'd bought yesterday. It had actually stopped raining for a bit, but the puddle by the car door had ants in it. And they bite. And itch and itch and itch. I slathered anti-itch stuff on the ankle and it has almost stopped itching. At least I no longer want to tear off the top layers of skin. The Olympics hoopla is over, and the closing ceremony will be telecast this evening. Tomorrow we start on non-stop (or so it will seem) coverage of what is being called a nominating convention, even though the "winner" has already been chosen and, in turn, has chosen his running mate. I'm glad I bought two books yesterday. And I have several more sitting around to provide an alternative. Did I mention that I also have a cold?
