I probably sweat off a couple of pounds just putting trash cans etc. in the garage.

Aside from the blow-about factor, I want to bring my car under the patio cover. That way I can recharge my cell phone if when we lose power.

And somewhere there is a little TV that can run off the car battery. I'm not interested enough to look for it--that's why I bought batteries for my various radios.

I went out for a drive again just as the first thin rain band came through. The exodus traffic has pretty much disappeared, and the interstate looks to be moving at a more normal speed.

I'm trying to decide whether the people the other side of the point (sort of across the street, except they're on a different street) are gathering to ride the storm out there, or gathering to caravan to kin in Mississippi. I'm betting the latter.

The waiting is probably the hardest part of a storm. That rain band means it's getting somewhat closer, although it isn't expected to get to the LA coast until about 6 AM. That's the outermost winds in the bands. I'm on the east of the storm--the side that is more likely to have a storm surge, but my location won't be in danger. I'm far enough from the water. And Katrina's surge didn't endanger my garage or house so I can most likely rest easy.

I think I've cooled down from my outside activities--time to see what the weather-guessers have to say.
