Another "tour"--more traffic, but still very light. There was a sign of a storm surge--a road near a bayou was almost blocked by overflow. I would not want to have crossed it if it had been much more extensive.

Traffic lights were working at the Interstate 10 intersection. Other lights in that area were on "flash."

Stop signs had been placed at the intersections of US 11 and US 190.

The Walgreen's there appeared to be open.

Every driver I saw exhibited courtesy with respect to yielding.

I drove on out to the WalMart/Mall area (near an I-12 interchange). The parking lot was filled with school buses. (Well, it's nice and high. These are driver-owned buses, and the owners don't want to take chances.)

I saw one light pole down that was almost blocking an intersection.

I am really glad I stayed. People are not being allowed to return on major routes. (And a lot of people don't know the back roads routes.)

There is no comparison between Katrina damages to roads and Gustav.

There is a really nice breeze--very handy when fans aren't working.

The radio just said this is the second largest storm with respect to power outages.Schools in most areas are closed till next week.

The Saints are hoping to have their season opener (as scheduled) at home on Sunday.
