I did manage to get out of the house for a while today--and to go further than my yard.
The house got more or less tidied, and then I headed for PJ's for some quiet reading time. Nothing noteworthy--but I do want to finish the mystery novel I started more than a week ago. Can't recall the title or author offhand, but it's moving along very satisfactorily. Setting is North Carolina, in a textile town. So far it involves one of the Families who own the mills and send their sons north for college so that will be properly prepared to become politicians--as well as mill owners. I'm enjoying it, and unless it falls apart at the end I shall probably look for more books by this author. The Saints did not play well today. I don't have anything more to say about them, except that they had better do better next Sunday, when I will be "in that number." Weather has definitely cooled down. I think today was about the first day since last spring when the furnace came on during the day. At night I have a cat or two to keep me cozy--and immobile. Tomorrow will be a work day. I have an appoointment on Wednesday, so I am trying to decide whether to go in Tuesday (for my second day) or wait till Thursday. I'll see what I get done tomorrow. This evening the big possum was out on the patio when I tossed out the dog biscuits for the raccoons. Neither it nor Pogo seems to have figured out the cat door, so I put a big dish of cat kibble on the porch for them (and the neighbor's cat.) (Large possum probably wouldn't fit through the cat door.) This cat door is a panel that goes at the end of the sliding glass door. It's about 10" - 12" wide and has the flap section at the bottom. (of course) I solved the problem of locking the sliding glass door with a large piece of dowel that keeps the s.g.d from opening, since it can no longer latch. This insert is really rather clever. (I think I found it at Pets USA.) If I expect to wake up bright and early tomorrow I need to get to bed by 10 at the latest. Tomorrow morning will come all too soon.
