It rained for a while, then stopped.
The little goldie (raccoon) was outside around noon when I decided to drive to the mailbox. She was really insistent about food, so I tossed out some dog biscuits. Which one did she take first? One was in a puddle, and that was her first choice. Later, I saw her take a dry one and deliberately "dunk" it. Guess that makes it easier to eat--softer. Perhaps they aren't really washing their food before eating, but softening it. In the afternoon, after I'd gotten back from some errands, she was very insistent about food. I ended up putting some kibble right in front of the "entrance" to the front porch, so she would be distracted enough by that for me to finish putting out food for the other critters. I figure that in a week or less she'll understand that NO!! means wait a minute or so. Still storm-watching. And looks like there will be more rain tonight. At least we're far enough away that we won't have the high winds. (cross fingers) However, nobody wants to try to predict what effect Alex will have on the oil spill. There's not much optimism there. I had been semi-planning to burn the pile of rakings, but the rain took care of that idea. I am absolutely crushed. (NOT) I just realized that I don't have any cats in here "helping" me. Guess they're outside guarding the house from elephants. They're pretty good at that--haven't seen any elephants around here lately. Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
