It's "just" a tropical storm, BUT . . .

The track is going to push a LOT of oil-laden water into the marshlands etc. Landfall is expected late Saturday night. Its 10 PM coordinates are 23.4 / 76.5--which takes it through Grand Isle and inland through the marshes. Salty water, laced with lots of crude oil, moving northwest sort of parallel to the Mississippi River.

In preparation, the oiled birds undergoing cleaning and rehab are being moved. Orleans Parish prisoners are being moved inland to Angola (the state prison) temporarily.

Equipment is being moved away from the leaking well.

Landfall is predicted for late Saturday night.

Those of you who live in areas with relatively predictable weather etc. disasters know that you don't wait till the last minute.

Unless there's a change in the track, I don't have too much (for me) to worry about. I'll put the loose stuff that could blow around in the garage (and close the doors to it.)

Were it not for the tens of thousands of gallons of oil floating around this storm would be of a lot less concern.

So, we'll be watching and waiting.

(and keeping the beads hot)
