I had taken the summer off from my volunteer archival job at Newcomb because of the resurfacing of the streets etc. in the area. I've missed it.

Last week I wrote to the archivist and asked if there was still stuff to do.

Today I got a lovely reply saying YES. I'll be learning about alumnae records etc. It sounds quite interesting and I am looking forward to returning there the first week in October.

I was told the parking situation is (as usual) lousy, but I learned that if I got there by 0730 I could have my pick of spaces. (I've been given keys to the building.)

Now I have a real incentive to get stuff done around the house and yard. My supply of "tomorrows" is about to shrink drastically.

This afternoon I treated myself to a pedicure. Actually, it's the only way I can get my age-thickened toenails decently trimmed. The people (Vietnamese) are all very friendly and efficient.

I'll be watching this Sunday's game from home--YD is meeting herself coming and going. She'll pass the tickets to her husband--the lawyer now in private practice.

I think this year's critters have headed out to establish their own territories. I haven't seen any today. I did get more raccoon biscuits in case any come around at night. I wonder how many of the females will bring their litters back to this area next year.

That's it for now. All in all, a very good day.
