The other day I got a call from the Blood Center reminding me that I was once again eligible to donate platelets. And how about Monday afternoon.

Well, that sounded more attractive than vacuuming the house etc., and besides--there would be people to talk to.

It was a slow day, but fairly routine.

One of the guys offered me a cup of coffee, which I stupidly accepted. It was excellent.

Donating platelets takes about two hours or so.

Use your imaginations.

Right--I let the phlebotomist know the potential problem, and I have never been disconnected as quickly as I was today--once I reached the goal. Two phlebotomists took care of the disconnect, and I made it in time to the room near the back. Based on the efficiency of the phlebotomists, this was not the first time a platelet donor had had this problem.

At any rate, the Blood Center now has another batch of A-neg. platelets.

Oh yeah--I also have another Saints t-shirt--with a message relating to the Blood Center.

By the time I'd finished it was getting dark, so I went through the drive-through at Arby's. I seldom do this, and I forgot to pick up my order. I guess I'm used to McDonald's where you pay at the first window and pick up the order at the second.

I realized this at the the second traffic light on the way home, so I turned around and they were waiting for me. With my order. We all laughed about it.

Home at last, and the beasts were a bit annoyed that their servant was serving dinner a bit later than usual.

Tough. If they're that hungry they can go catch a mouse.

Tomorrow's weather forecast is a bit iffy, but I have a dr. appt. in New Orleans in the afternoon, so I might as well make it a two-for-one and spend the early part of the day at Newcomb.

And now it's time to unwind wwith the idiot box as background.
