Yes, people are starting to warm up to welcoming in the new year--or is it bidding farewell to the old year?

Lots of fireworks going off.

There are more fireworks shot off for the new year than on the Fourth of July, judging by noise levels--and the fact that the sales period is longer for the New Year than for independence.

I forgot that I hadn't gotten a new page-a-day calendar until this morning. I checked WalMart, but they don't seem to carry it. So I ordered one from B&N. With the magic of online ordering it should be here soon. (I hope.)

Weatherwise, it's dry--but overcast. Cool, but not cold.

Spots is being very friendly--I don't think he's too fond of the noise. He wants closeness and heavy petting.

The mail had a delightful surprise in it--from the packaging I thought it was a book. But it's a battery-operated word game unit (for lack of a better word.) I plan on checking it out this evening. It's somewhat smaller than a regular book so it will fit in my purse quite well.

The fireworks noises have let up--wonder if it's because it sounds like it's raining.

And now one of life's little mysteries. On the last page of the a-day calendar I have a 12 letter & symbol code(?) written down. I wonder what it's a password to, or if not a password, what it is.

The silence outside continues--and it's a great contrast to a few minutes ago.

Time to see what drivel is on TV.
