Earlier this evening (and afternoon) I was not getting any kind of outside connection.
And my computer guy took today off (Good Friday). I shall simply thank my lucky stars and hope that my feeble attempts at making sure everything was fully plugged in took care of the problem. Other than feeling incredibly inadequate and utterly stupid with respect to my computers, it was an okay day. Weather was gorgeous, cats were friendly, etc. etc. I had almost forgotten about a prescription renewal I'd called in (a side effect of computeritis) but did finally remember it. So, a quick trip to Walgreen's (I love their drive-thru window) and now I am all set on the drug front. (That sounds terrible!!) Next week I shall return to Tulane--with assurance that I can park within a reasonable walking distance from where I work. (I need to check their schedule to see when they officially reopen after Easter break.) I printed out the e-mail from the Newcomb Executive Director, and I'll leave that on my dash board, where it can be read by any overzealous campus cop. The other day there was a car-train collision in the middle of Slidell. It used to be that there were no lights at crossings, but now the more heavily travelled streets have guard gates. The "minor" streets don't, and last week someone lost the game of race the train at one of them. Needless to say, traffic was tied up on a main street for more than half a day. I hope that serves as a reminder to drivers "in a hurry" that when a train and a car try to be in the same place at the same time, it won't be the train who loses out. Because of my quick trip to Walgreen's I was a bit late (according to feline, possum, and raccoon stomachs) at serving their dinner. The cats and the critters get along just fine. The critters and I have come to a meeting of minds about keeping our respective distances. The instant I get myself back into the house is when the possums (and sometimes raccoons) swarm onto the front porch for their critter crunchies. It doesn't matter if there is a cat there--the critters respect their prior rights. And so I shall now cross my fingers and hope everything goes well with the computer.
