The waters from up north continue their trip downhill.

So far, (with crossed fingers) it looks like New Orleans will not get the flooding that's been happening upstream.

That is--unless (heaven forbid)--there's a levee failure.

The Bonne Carre spillway continues to divert hundreds of thousands of gallons of water each day into Lake Pontchartrain--and it's not (yet) completely opened.

People in the floodplain "serviced by" the Morganza spillway continue to try to get things in order in the (probable) event that that will also be opened.

All of this is to relieve the pressure on the levees--as well as to keep the water level below the levee tops.

And if you are really interested, wwltv.com is a great source.

Other than the flood preparations etc. not much has been happening around here.

The weather is delightful--not stinky/sweaty at the moment. May it remain so for at least a month--the last thing we need with the river(s) so high is rain.

My friendly little raccoon came early for supper today. And, as usual, he(?) waited politely until I had a dish filled with the dry food. The critters seem to have learned what the term of the feeding agreement are--don't mess with my cats, and don't come too close to me. And no fighting on the front porch.

The number of dinner guest is down somewhat (I think) which means that this year's babies are out looking for territories to call their own.

Soo_o_o__o--another IUD almost gone by.

(The local pronunciation of bonne caire is Bonnie Carry)
