2011-07-03 6:05 PM How About Some Rain? Read/Post Comments (1) |
Still hot, and dry.
The only possible problem with rain is that it usually raises the humidity along with lowering the temperature, and the end result can be negative. Today was yet another one of those fantastically exciting days in which the high spot was dumping several weeks' worth of newspapers into the pool, where they will "melt" and join the other sludge on the bottom. Sometimes I toss them into the trash, but too many of those and the trash bag gets hard to lift and toss into the truck. Next week I SHALL return to work. I have about an hour of work left getting the cartons into storage mode, but I'm betting that the archivist has probably scrounged up another collection to process. I really doubt that she will ever run out of materials that need work. It's nice to feel useful. The raccoon that has adopted me (at least as a source of food) gets along fine with the cats. (I have its picture on my phone.) The raccoon recognizes that he(?) is in the cats' territory, albeit (probably) by their invitation. The reward for not acting greedy or aggressive is some really good food. I keep wondering if it's a he or a she. If it's a she I'll bet she'll be back next spring with mini-raccoons. I haven't seen any possums in a while, but once the mamas have weaned their children they go off for a well-deserved vacation. And once the little ones have found other places to eat, they go off too. As it gets warmer I tend to spend more of my home time in the computer room--it's air-conditioned. I have yet to feel so warm at bedtime that I want to sleep in there--but that option is available. Time now, however, to settle down for the evening.
