It occurred to me--in the latter part of the afternoon--that I should really address the issue of deteriorating windshield wipers.
I had bought one to replace the one that was tearing itself apart, so I figured that the intelligent thing to do would be to use the new one to replace it. However, I realized that was a chore I had never attempted--nor observed. After a couple of tentative tries I chickened out and headed out to WalMart--where I had already bought a replacement. (I can--and have--changed tires however. I learned the magic words to use from my late husband.) The very nice guy at the "check-in" spot heard my sad tale, and used my new wiper to replace the driver's side one, which was in 2/3 decent shape. He then took care of the problem of the start of a tear in that blade by tearing off the wayward strip, then putting it on the passenger side. Okay--works for me, but the next time I go inside inside the store I'll buy another replacement blade. However, I shall probably ask my neighbor (the husband) to put it on--s l o w l y--so I can see exactly what he does. {I just realized that this is sort of a continuation of an earlier entry--about the weather.} So--I managed to make it home before the rain hit again. Something tells me that I probably won't be going in to work tomorrow either--I haven't seen the forecast for tomorrow but I'm betting rain is in it. Wednesday is the Gulf South Women's History Conference. Sounds impressive? It's lunch with a friend who is a professor at Sweetbriar in Mobile and we're meeting at the Arby's in Gulfport (about an hour's drive for each of us) to talk and visit. We usually include something about women's history, or history in general. But it sounds more impressive to call it a history conference than two women getting together for a gabfest. (I think we met in grad school at Tulane in the 90s.) Time now for a supper snack. It's what's leftover (deliberately) from the my noonish stop at Popeye's.
