Rain

It rained off and on most of the day today, so I did not go in to work.

Whether I do tomorrow depends on the weather.

One up-side of the rain--I have very affectionate cats, especially Spots.

I don't know how long he was "on his own" but he definitely appreciates a nice dry house and regular food--not necessarily in that order.

I managed to barely beat the rain with a run to WalMart for different stuff. I had a nice chat with the guy who was stocking the display case with the salads, etc. that I find make quick and nourishing meals. I wasn't lucky enough to get a motorized cart, and he knew why I was walking/hobbling like I was. We swapped bad hip stories.

I told the guy how much I liked the ready-to-go deli stuff, as I reached for a box of roll-ups.

What I do tomorrow depends on the weather. I'm getting a bit tired of all the rain, but they understand at work. And after all, look at the bargain they're getting, salary-wise.

So--on the national front, I probably don't have to be concerned about this month's SS check.

The problem is that the basic problem has not been addressed. How much of the national expenditures are truly necessary? Are our congressional representatives really earning their salaries? The salaries maybe--but what about all the other miscellaneous "perks" like flying all over the country/world? Do they pay full fare for this--and for their "support staff" who accompany them? Do they fly first class, or with the peasant proletariat?

Oh well, this is a time when it is nice to be 75.

Back in the early 20th century there was one president who did not accept the mandated salary. It may have been Herbert Hoover, and that would make sense since he had the misfortune to be in the catbird seat as the Great Depression began toppling the former way of life.

Oh well (again), things eventually work themselves out, although not always the way you would like them to.

As I sit here stroking Spots the thought occurred to me that maybe if all politicians were owned by cats things would be seen in a different light.

(This month's color scheme is Glacier--very appropriate for the hot part of summer.)
