2011-08-24 7:13 PM Watch Out for the Weather! Read/Post Comments (5) |
Especially if you live on the upper (north of Florida) East Coast.
That front just off the coast has some really nasty weather in it. I can recall a couple of hurricanes during my growing-up years in northern New Jersey, and while they didn't hold a candle to Katrina and a couple of others here in the Deep South, they were nasty. And that little earthquake today in Washington--not good either. I'll be watching the news and thinking of those of you in the threatened areas. The northeast tends to be a LOT more built up than down here. Today was a nothing day. I drove the car back to the garage where the air compressor is, but couldn't get the air hose to work. So I went out to WalMart/Sam's, where there used to be an air thingy near the gas pumps. Not there today, so I took the car to the auto entrance at WalMart and explained my problem. They checked the tires and got them all evened up pressure-wise. They're really nice back there. I had a few things to get inside--including a ready-made salad--then headed on home. That's when I heard the news about the earthquake on the East Coast. The coverage of the current tropical system was also fairly thorough. The next few days should be "interesting," to say the least. I hope the predictions are overrated. I was sort of planning to go in to work tomorrow, but that's going to depend on the weather. Walking on a sidewalk in the rain, with a cane, is not on my list of favorite things to do. I think I have two regular raccoons that are bold/stupid/enterprising enough to come onto the porch and wait for food. If the cat needs to go in and/or out he manages to go around them--and they don't mess with each other. It's an intersting "relationship." It's just about full dark now--and only 7:30. Wat happened to the long summer days? I'll be watching the really nasty East Coast weather and thinking about those of you (that I know of) who are being threatened.
