Three tropical "events" show on the regional weather map.
Katia is heading up the East Coast, much to the dismay (I'm sure) of the Yankees. Lee wore himself out hanging around the Gulf several days. Maria is looking to give Cuba a bath. Nate, however, is in the Gulf, hovering near the Central American countries--at least for now. To say it will be interesting to see what the storms eventually do would be a gross understatement. Meanwhile, I shall enjoy the somewhat less hot weather while it lasts. Today was crashingly boring. I did "stuff" around the house in the morning, then a couple of quick errands in the early afternoon. And I managed a brief (but refreshing) sinking spell in the early afternoon. Next week--weather permitting--I SHALL return to the archives. This evening will be taken up with the first game that counts for the 2011 football season. It's at Green Bay, and should be a good one. This afternoon I decided that I really needed to get a new handicapped hang tag, since the old one was in its last few days before expiring. There was hardly anyone at the DMV--too far into the month for the ones who should have renewed whatever last month, and too early for those needing to renew this month. While I was there a young man came in, spotted me, and came over to give me a quick hug and chat. He lives just down the road and is close to Diana's age. (Actually, I don't know if he still lives there--probably not, since he's in his forties now.) We chatted a bit, and then I asked him if he'd heard about the time I'd flipped off his father for running a stop sign. At the time, I was on crutches, and if I hadn't been keeping half an eye out for traffic I might have been hit. He just blew through the stop sign without slowing down at all. Well, the guy started to laugh a bit at the question and said his mother had told him about it. His father never said anything. So--another more or less IUD. Time for football!
