People have been pouring into New Orleans and surrounding areas the past few days.

There's a Saints post-season game on (I think) Monday.

And then there's the Sugar Bowl game. That is getting huge crowds.

I doubt you could pay me enough to wander around the French quarter etc. That's why they invented TV cameras.

However, New Orleans has had a lot of experience in handling large (frequently somewhat inebriated) crowds. Many tourists arrive thinking that anything goes. But that is NOT the case.

It's sort of a controlled chaos.

On the home front it was an IUD. I didn't get around to going up front for the mail until I was looking for the paper to see what the evening TV was going to be.

A week from now we will no doubt be back in a somewhat more predictable routine. The current glut of college end-of-season games will be about over and we can settle back to see what happens with the professional teams.

So--overall another IUD.

Except that the marsh fire (which has been burning for months now) is still making a mess of visibility on a stretch of interstate. The problem with marsh fires is that they go underground and are VERY difficult to extinguish.

That's it for this evening--my big boy cat is letting me know that he wants my left hand (aka cat headrest) to be still so he can go back to sleep.
