No, not the music meme going around. Just stuff I'm listening to today, at work and the few short conscious hours when I'm not at work.

These days, it's a rotation of two singles and three albums.

Atsushi Onozawa's "Voice of Prayer." Techno dance instrumental (well, a vocalist, but no lyrics.) I have no idea why they called it that. Never heard of them before, can't find anything on them on the search engines aside from a smattering of game soundtracks. Figures, seeing my next track.

"Metal Gear Solid 2 Main Theme" from the game soundtrack. Typical orchestral soundtrack music, sweeping and martial, with bits of techo thrown in to get the heart pumping. The rest of the soundtrack is good, but this one is great. It works the theme through once, quick and lively, then does it again in a thoughtful dirge.

Soundtracks to "Pirates of the Caribbean" 1, 2, and 3. Overblown at times, other times mind-sticking. I love the song the kid sang at the beginning of the third film, "Hoist the Colours." They give it the full chorus treatment (complete with crescendoing sopranos) in "What Shall We Die For" on that same album.

Mostly instrumentals, one or two with lyrics, but mostly word-free. All of them uplifting, stirring. I'm tired, I'm frustrated, I'm scared. This is what keeps me going. Some of it is masking out the noise. Some of it is bringing out energy I didn't know I had.

Side note, because it's not worth a blog entry of it's own. It's been a few weeks of me doing just braindumps, typing ad hoc as opposed to trying to formulate something worthwhile to say. Thoughts? Do you prefer the old way, quality not quantity? Or the daily randomness?
