Was back home a while ago, just distracted writing Sian and forgot to post the good news. Yes, I'm home a day after "heart surgery." It's in quotes because it's almost outpatient stuff. They go in at the femoral artery, work the line up the ...

TMI? Okay, how about this - my 'incision' is 1-2mm across. It's in a tender place, but my biggest concern is that it clots up, but the clot breaks off and clogs up another blood vessel somewhere else.

The hardest part was staying still for 6 hours, for reasons above. After that, it was just a matter of staying overnight for observation. That means getting my temperature (ear, no other orifice) pulse and blood pressure taken every three hours. Yes, every. This kitty didn't sleep very well.

Check-out was delayed. The nurses had some sort of emergency. I understand triage. We waited. SpouseKitty was there, so we just talked. It was good to have some time, just us. No Kitten, no kitty-in-laws, no television. Well, there was one, but I controlled the vertical, uh, remote.

Got home, parked myself on the bed, curled up with a stuffed koala bear a coworker sent me as a get-well in the hospital. Yes, I spent too much time on the computer, but got a catch-up chapter for today as well as one for yesterday.

My medical restrictions are pretty light: bedrest today and tomorrow. Good thing it's the weekend. I can go back to work on Monday, but can't lift more than ten pounds the rest of the week. The doctor suggested I go easy on the exercise for a fortnight, so no racquetball for the duration, no trying to bike the 51st hill (appx 250 feet of climb in three blocks.)

Me, I'm sore at the incision point. It is a little uncomfortable to walk. It may be uncomfortable to bike to work on Monday. Dunno. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it, I guess. There's a bit of discomfort in my chest -- checked with the nurse, it's expected. The stents do stretch the vessels, pressing them against other muscles Doctor says if it doesn't go away in a week or so, to call. Basically, low priority.

Thanks for all the good wishes, and just wanted to let everyone know I'm back and home and writing and ... well, the usual. Love you all. Hugs.
