In the meanwhile, wanted to give an explanation for my rudeness in not commenting on many blogs.

The software my team makes was created by an external company, which my current company purchased five years ago. Many of the employees of the old company at time of purchase are still with the current company, working for the current team.

One of them is leaving for another part of the company. He'll be organizationally close, but his new manager is very good about making sure members of my coworker's new team are not too abused by other groups.

That means, once he's gone, he's gone. He has a few weeks where he'll be half-time in each group, both to learn the new group (Ha! Remember, he was with the company at the time it was acquired, so if anyone's going to learn when he with his new team, it will most likely be his teammates from him) and to teach us what we need to know to continue on in his duties.

Well, teach me, really. There are some duties he'll be handing off to other people, but a majority of his work he's handing off to me. Yeah, a six-year veteran software tester of the product, handing off to a one-and-a-half-year whelp. Oh, this is going to be fun.

And to add to it, one of the things he said while teaching me his duties went along the lines of this, "From 7AM is my time. From 7PM to 10PM is also my time. In-between they're (coworkers) always interrupting me."

Oy. Serious oy.
