Anti-Intellectualism (or should it be Anti-Intelluctuation?)

I'm glad it wasn't just me, wasn't just us. Time had a recent column on what they jokingly call The Urkel Effect.

Never mind the closet racist (a.k.a. Bradley Effect) claiming to vote for Obama, but being unable to follow through in the private sanctum of the voting booth. This is more of a question if we are ready for a Nerd-in-Chief.

I know I am. After eight years of "I know what is right", gut-check reflexes and WWJD/B, I want someone to see a crisis and choose the better course, not the immediate one.

During the election campaign, some columnists credit McCain for his quick reaction to the Georgian Crisis.

What good did it do?

Most international crises are not ones where an hour makes a difference. Some rescue effort in the wake of a terrorist attack, such as sending aid to the Marines when Beruit was bombed? Yes. Some natural disaster, such as the 2006 (or was it 2005) earthquake/tsunami? Definitely. But I can think of no other type of incident that hinges on immediate response.

I'm looking forward to someone who understands the wisdom in "Don't just do something, sit there!"
