Walked into work, got situated. I know these people. They have been my customers for two years, and my testing has primarily been along the lines of, "Is this what my customers will accept?"

All goes fairly smoothly until we get a 'mystery meeting' invite from our manager's manager's manager. I say 'mystery meeting' because it has a vague subject and no details.

The last time I had this happen was at my old company. They had just turned off the project we were working on, and HR was in attendance to help us with our severance packages.

I was on pins and needles for the next two hours until the meeting. Actually, that's probably overstating it. I had a feeling what was ahead, and I also had a feeling that there was bang all I could do about it. If I was going to get canned, it was too late now.

Without going too much into details, this turned out to be nothing of the sort. It was just another reorganization. (I say 'just' in jest - this is one of the more dramatic ones I've seen since I've been with my current company.)

My current team, the one I just started with today, is completely untouched. I still report to my manager as of this morning, who still reports to ... etc. My old team, they have been reallocated to different branches under the same VP, but not all of them are under the same manager's manager's manager anymore. Some are, but not all of them.

So, business as usual with me and my peers. However, my old team, the one that writes and tests the software my current team deploys, that will be another story.
