I know I said in an earlier entry that I married a pack rat, but what I really meant to say, was that I married a Wookie. For those of you living under a rock since 1977, a Wookie is a large, bear like creature, noted for being very tall, having great strength, and a lot of wild hair. While Tom does very well in the grooming department, his hair grows at a wild rate. He needs a haircut every 3 weeks. At night, if it is very quiet and still, I can actually hear his hair grow. He has more hair on his head than most Greek men have on their entire body - now that's a LOT of hair. Tom, being of Greek heritage, also has the 'big brow' thing going on. I will never permit it to become a monobrow, but this will require constant and vigilant observation. Tom is very tall, much like a Wookie. Now, when I say tall, I mean T A L L. He is 6'5". I am 5'10". I love that he makes me look tiny - not an easy thing to do by any means. His grand stature works both for, and against him. He can reach things on the top shelf without the assistance of a step ladder. He can change a lightbulb without batting an eye. He is easy to spot in Blockbuster Video. However - being a Wookie comes with it's disadvantages. It's really difficult for him to find a car he fits in. His head hits the roof. He has to recline into the back seat. His legs are too long. His knees are in his mouth. This is why he drives a convertable. When the top is up, it is soft and pliable and conforms to the shape of his head. I bought him a BowFlex so he wouldn't have to go to the gym anymore, but he was TOO BIG FOR IT! Speaking of the gym, he is also really strong. Like, freakishly strong. He can leg press over 800 pounds. So, when he threatens to kick me out of the bed for hogging the covers, I pay attention! I might wind up in the back yard.... One last thing about Wookies and Tom. They are both loyal, adorable and very loveable. Although, Tom does wear pants - not something that Wookies are known to do.
