It's a good one (I define a good writing group as one where most of the members are better writers than I am) so I'm going to give it a try, though the practicalities are proving a bit difficult initially. Their next meeting is on March 21, the day of my reading at Borderlands. They were willing to reschedule to the following Sunday, but that doesn't help, since I'll be at Hidden City then. I'm hoping to make their next meeting. I haven't had a lot of luck with writing groups these past few years; either personality conflicts or simple logistics have always overwhelmed the benefits. But I know and like several people in this group, so it's worth a try. I've started another new story. I'd intended to finish one of the three stories that I have sitting around incomplete, but two of them need complete conceptual tear-down-and-rebuildings, and the third one has hit a seemingly unsolvable dead-end. I had a few other story ideas and openings jotted down, and I got to thinking about one of them this morning. I think I can write it all this weekend. I can see the whole shape of it in my head (a nice feeling, one that's been elusive lately), it's cool, and the first several scenes came easily when I started writing today. It's about Komodo dragons, destructive relationships, and the way even people in love can use one another ruthlessly. Wish me luck. If this one stalls in mid-narrative, I don't know what the hell I'm going to try next. Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
